I decided to join the organization after attending a conference in Toronto that they organized. The high point for me was a moderated discussion between Otto Penzler, a long time editor and book seller of mysteries and crime fiction, and Margaret Cannon, reviewer of mysteries for the Globe and Mail. They discussed 19th century mysteries, Sherlock Holmes, the golden age represented by Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, et al., and noir authors such as Dashiel Hammett and Raymond Chandler. They mentioned many of the books I have read over the years, and I agreed with most of their likes and dislikes. I am looking forward to participating in more of events sponsored by CWC. I joined as a professional member, which gives me the right to post details of my books on their website,ย https://www.crimewriterscanada.com/ย as well as my author bio.
