The ABC Files, Hamish Cameron Investigates

Books

All books in the series are available as eBooks on Amazon. Books 1–3 are also available as a paperback collection, and Books 4–7 are available individually in paperback.

If you’re new to the series, start with Book 1 below.

Hamish Cameron is a retired judge who becomes an unlikely sleuth when troubling events at his upscale Nova Scotia retirement home lead him to suspect that residents are being used as guinea pigs for anti-ageing drug trials — and defrauded of their estates. With hacker Sean Carroll at his side, he brings the perpetrators to book, and the two go on to found a detective agency in the idyllic seaside town of Ashcroft-by-the-Sea.

Hamish and Sean are hired to find a daughter given up for adoption twenty years earlier — only to discover she died tragically at thirteen. Meanwhile, another girl has vanished. What did they have in common? Unravelling the connection puts both men in unexpected danger.

When a student dies of a drug overdose, the local high school principal hires Cameron and Carroll to investigate. They trace a dealer to a sailing ship for at-risk teens — and to a cartel with links to the Bahamas. A tragedy aboard the vessel leads to a surprising denouement.

This is a paperback that includes the three Novels listed above, namely Hamish Cameron Investigates, A Chorus of Evil, and Evil Through the Spyglass.

A panicked middle-of-the-night call sends Sean Carroll racing to the home of Olivia, his high-school heartthrob. What he finds there plunges him and Hamish into an RCMP investigation and a truly evil operation they are determined to dismantle — whatever the personal cost.

Cameron and Carroll are hired to find the missing daughter of a Canadian mining magnate. A contact in Ottawa turns up dead, and the trail leads back decades to a casino in the African nation of Summerland — and to a tyrannical government determined to keep the past buried.

Events in wartime Germany cast long shadows over the present. What begins as a favour for a friend in Halifax turns into a web of intrigue and murder — and just when Hamish and Sean think they’re closing in on the killer, they realise everything they thought they knew was wrong.

Two cousins estranged for decades by a shared tragedy are brought back together when one hires Cameron and Carroll to find the other. The investigation takes their newest detective, Beth Phillips, to Alberta’s oil sands and a First Nations reserve — where she finds herself caught between environmental activists and powerful oil interests, in very real danger.
