I have written a complete draft of a new novel, the eighth one in the ABC Files entitled Sufficient Unto the Day. Without giving too much away, the book interweaves the narratives of Sean Carroll, who is heading down to Florida on his sailboat with Marjoree; Beth Phillips, who is working on a case in the Athabasca oil sands with her colleagues at the Tres Amigas; and Hamish Cameron, who has become embroiled in some dramatic events in Ashcroft-by-the-Sea.
I am looking to publish the novel in late-March or April of this year.
The title is part of a quote from the King James version of the Bible (Matthew 6:34): “Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” It implies that we should not worry too much about the future, since the present includes an ample burden of evil and pain. The word evil does not appear in my title, unlike those of previous novels, but is implicit.
